Life Is Precious
There have been two freak accidents in Sydney this week. Upon reading about them and seeing vision on the news, it just does hit home just how life can be snatched in an instant.
Accident #1 - A 42 yr woman (a widow) Learner driver, got ‘confused’ when she approached an amber light & she slammed on the accelerator. She lost control, ploughing into the kerb where a bunch of ppl were waiting to catch a bus. People were killed and some others seriously injured. The driver is a mother of 7 kids & threatened to kill herself, so she is under police guard in hospital and is still too shaken to give a statement. Sad story whichever way you look at it.
Accident #2 – Last night an empty Rivercat was finished its run and was returning to base. Details are sketchy still, but it basically ran over the top of and totally demolished a pleasure cruiser being used by 50 ppl from the Aust Ice Skating community. Some were seriously injured, a few killed, one woman had her leg severed (a champion skater) and a 14 yr old girl remains missing. Steven said there have been Police boats hovering about under the Bridge for most of the day. Terrible, terrible, terrible.
I kiss the 2 men in my life every day and tell them that I love them. One doesn’t like to be morbid but you just never know where life is going to lead you.
For Lisa..
Lis,
You asked me before about what to buy/not to buy.
THE best baby book on the market that is a must-have is “Baby Love” by Robin Barker. It doesn’t tell you what to do but is a GREAT reference book along the way. It reassures and educates unlike other books that either tell you the right or WRONG way to do things or prescribe to a particular model of thought. This is awesome and I find that we pick it up and read it when we have a question that needs answering, then we’ll put it down again for a while until the need arises. This is the only book we bothered to buy, it’s so good. We’ve just picked it up again to read up on solids etc. It covers the first yr and then there is a follow-on book too.
Just wanted to blog this before I forgot again!
