I read the latest news from MS about Vista with bewilderment.

I understand why they’ve done it, it gives you the chance to reach down and up and provides the pricing segmentation and so forth.  But it must be fraught with danger.

How does a simple user move from one version to another, will a market evolve that adds the features from other versions of windows to your ’simple version’ using 3rd party software?   What will be the pricing diff?  (I expect home will be like $99 but corp $499), how will sales people explain the difference?

But I don’t care, as time passes i feel more like I’ll be moving to Apple, its clean, its simple, it works - and I’ll leave behind all the bells, whistles and other misc noises of Windows for a more simple life.

An operating system that simple does what I want, and then gets out of my way.
