Well,  yesterday was internet connectivity hell.

Every few minutes our connection would drop out and then attempt reconnection over and over again.

It was the hell (In a kind of western hemisphere, middle class way).

So, this morning I called Telstra Bigpond, my first call to their help desk in the THREE years I had been their customer.  Every other time there had been an issue I had patiently waited it out, but this was getting quite annoying.

Within around 30 seconds of talking to my Telstra support person he was already telling me he couldn’t (or wouldn’t) support me because I was using a wireless router, this continued for a few more minutes before he again let me know he wouldn’t be helping me (no “I’m sorry sir” just “I cannot help you”) So I hung up on him with “You’ve just convinced me to leave Telstra”

So I’ve joined iinet, it still processing, so we’ll see how we go.

In the end it turned out to be my wireless router (Which after I got off the phone from the guy I had a closer look at an noticed it was rebooting itself every few minutes), so I’ve bought a VOIP compatible Linksys and have sent the D-Link to the bin.

So, I now have VOIP with engin, 54Mbps wireless and a pending iinet application.

Perversly, I called back Telstra today to get my ADSL password reset for the remaining few hours I was with them and the perfectly helpful gentleman not only provided for me the password, he even offered to read me the settings for my linksys wireless router!!!!!  (The same device the other guy bluntly refused to support!)

Go figure!
