I just renewed herod.net for a further three years (I’ve been going year to year for the past few years).

 I’ve always intended to relocate the domain registration from Network Solutions to Dreamhost for the ease of it, but due to the time pressure (it was valid for only 4 more days) I just decided to re-register it in place.  (There is a complex side story involving the domain, my techinical contact details, another domain and a rather large, unpaid bill - but thats another tale)

Of course, now I’ve done it, I realise that Dreamhosts charges are 1/3 that of Network Solutions sigh.

 Whats even more annoying about Network Solutions is their upselling service attempts to sell you everything from hosting to search engine optimisation in several screens between ‘renewel’ and payment.   Its almost like they are a two bit spammer.

Anyway, I survived it, slightly poorer (but not as poor as Network Solutions would have liked).

I don’t wish them ill, its not their fault they are trying to sustain billion dollar company on a commodity like domain registration - but thems the breaks I guess.
