Well, MacWorld certainly hit the headlines with the new iPhone (A registered trademark of Cisco I mean Apple).
It certainly looks good, I have a few concerns, mostly related to my use of phones and its Australian release.
- I’m pretty rough with my phones - will it survive a few months in my care?
- Network support - we will need 3G support over here as WiFi isn’t exactly everywhere.
- Which carrier will it come on? I fear Telstra - if its Telstra that would mean two things - it will be expensive AND we’ll probably miss out on Google content in preference for Sensis content.
That’s about as compelling as telling me I can have the coolest toy in the world, but I can only play with it at Great Aunt Gertrude’s house….
Anyway, this isn’t about the iPhone - its about the Airport Extreme base station update.
I think I’ve finally found the solution to my home network needs with this device, the multiple hard drive sharing with an external usb hub being the final piece in my attempts to protect my digital life from hard drive failure.
The ‘free’ 802.11n support that my Core 2 Duo MacBook will have soon is also pretty cool - the first time I’ve bought hardware and had it get better for free!
Anyway, better start saving… maybe for my birthday…
