Well, 3 more days and the iPhone hits the shelves after one of the most nail biting lead ups of any phone release since.. well…. Alexander Bell thing..
Here are my predictions
- The news will find several people who’s phone died in the first week
- The iPhone will be accused of being fragile after it is dropped, left in the sun, carried in pockets or the like
- Some major shortcoming in its mobile phone functionality will be found - call drop outs, inconvenient SMS-ing, data blackspots or the like
- Battery life with WiFi usage
- Web site compatibility - once that Safari browser hits all those iPhone unfriendly websites….
The iPhone is a version 1.0 product (as covered elsewhere), so we can expect in 12/24 months the following:
- 3G networking (or some other form of mobile network support) for use outside of the US
- GPS - the natural partner to Google Maps
