Well, staggeringly, my parents now own an shiny new 17″ iMac which they picked up on sale after the new models became available.Their aging 900Mhz AMD Duron was simply unable to keep up with the stresses of modern life.  We recently sent a Quicktime movie of Darcy playing and the machine was so slow it couldn’t play it smoothly. So, we were out shopping and I was took my parents past the Mac store inside David Jones to show them the Mac Mini thinking that might the best entry level option.Anyway, to cut a long story short we picked up the last display model of the 17″ iMac with the superdrive option and about 4 hours later they were up and running (Files copied, photo’s imported, bookmarks and email addresses imported and on the Net).Since then we’ve been corresponding regularly via Video Skype, my parents watching, in delight, as our son crawls toward the camera. Oh, and the quick time video?  It plays flawlessly full screen - whilst playing a DVD AND copying files as 100Mbps, a great example of the power of Mac OS and the Core 2 Duo…
