What a job

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Putting aside the tragedy of this poor woman How is this for a job:

In his opening address Mark Tedeschi, QC, told the jury that female police cadets weighing close to Ms Byrne’s 57 kilograms had been thrown into swimming pools by male police colleagues of various strengths so that scientists could determine what type of throw could have resulted in Ms Byrne’s body landing head first almost 12 metres out from the cliff base.

Where she landed.

Happy hello from my iphone

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

So I was waiting for someone to bring a wordpress app to the iPhone so that mobile blogging could become real for me.

I was planning on doing something myself but two things were holding me back:

  1.  My total lack of knowledge about coding for the iPhone.
  2.  My total lack of commitment to actually coding something like that

Anyway, have a good evening, I have docs to write.

Is Google invading your privacy?

Monday, July 14th, 2008

I was playing around with my Google account whilst configuring Google Reader for my new iPhone (more on that later).

In the long list of Google services I seem to have collected was one named ‘Web History’.  I was stunned to discover this option is a history of all the web searches I had done over several months!

I felt a little odd looking through my old search history - its not like there is anything ‘wrong’ in there - but I felt deeply disturbed that Google had been tracking this stuff for a very long time and I was completely unaware of the fact (no feedback during searches, nothing ‘obvious’ in terms and conditions).

I’ve turned it off and deleted the history.  As far as I’m concerned it is simply not right that Google collects this kind of information simply because I’ve chosen to use their other services.
